Area towns plan holiday events

PAW PAW –

The Paw Paw Downtown Development Authority will host “A Cozy Christmas in the Village,” with the community tree lighting, Friday night, Dec. 1, of the village Christmas tree located in front of the Carnegie Center, 129 S. Kalamazoo St. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. It continues Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. with the Children’s Christmas Parade.
The parade will line up on Gremps Street at the parking lot of St. Julian Winery, then head north to Michigan Avenue. It will travel east through downtown to Freshwater Community Church.
Immediately after the parade, Santa will be dropped off at Freshwater and children will meet Santa for photos and treats until 1:30 p.m.in the Community Room, entering Entrance C.
A free movie will be shown at the Strand Theater following the parade at 1 p.m., sponsored by the Paw Paw Kiwanis Club.
Santa will also be at Carnegie for free photos, Thursday, Dec. 7, from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon, and again from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Deep Fried Pickle Project will take the stage with music at The Lucky Wolf, 404 E. Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. The event is sponsored by the Paw Paw DDA.

MATTAWAN –

Santa will make his appearance at Mattawan Memorial Park, Saturday, Dec. 2, as he is ushered into Mattawan with the Mattawan Christmas Parade, at 5:30 p.m. Parade lineup at the Antwerp Township Hall parking lot begins at 5 p.m. The event begins at 6 p.m. in the park, where the Lighting of the Trees will be held.

Prior to the parade, from 3 to 5 p.m., the Mattawan Lions Club, area businesses, Antwerp Sunshine Library and the Mattawan Lions Club Foundation will sponsor a Holiday Carnival at the Antwerp Activity Center, 4821 Front Ave. There will be crafts, games, cookie decorating, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and photos with The Mean Green One.
