Andrew “Jack” John Butler, 76, of Paw Paw, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at his home in Paw Paw. He was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Paw Paw, the son of Andrew M. Butler and Kathryn (Benakovich) Butler.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Paw Paw, graduating from Paw Paw High School in 1965. Jack served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was an active longtime parishioner at Saint Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 3798, Paw Paw. Jack was also a member of the American Legion McGowen Johnson Post 68, Paw Paw. After many dedicated years, Jack retired from GTE. Following his retirement, Jack returned to work driving a school bus for Paw Paw Public Schools. He truly loved working with the kids. Jack had many hobbies over the years, he especially enjoyed reading, golf, and sports. He was a regular attendee at many local sporting events, including his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
On Aug. 16, 1969, he married Judy (Schiele) Butler, who survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Andy (Rose) Butler, Matt (Michele) Butler and Luke (Dannielle) Butler; one daughter, Jenny Butler; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Trey) Lindblom, Andrew Butler, Jacob Peplinski, Anya Butler, Aubrey Butler, Gauge Butler, Briar Butler, Case Butler; four great-grandchildren, Astrid and Stella Lindblom and Ophelia and Felix Butler, along with his faithful companion, Sammy.
Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, George Butler and Gerard Butler.
Family and friends were invited to visit Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, with a Rosary service held later that day. Mass of Christian burial was held at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw, Wed. Nov. 15, with the Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen officiating.
