The LaFayette High School Bulldogs varsity football team traveled to Highland Homes, Alabama last Friday to engage in a 2A Region 3 battle versus the Highland Home Squadron.
The Squadron came into the contest with an unblemished record and #1 rankings in both Class 2A and Class 2A Region 3. LaFayette with only one win on the year had high hopes of pulling off an upset and stunning the Squadron on this night.
But this would only be a far-fetched stretch of the imagination for the Bulldogs and the home town Squadron would pound the Dogg Pound 41-0.
It was a downhill struggle for the Bulldogs from the outset of the game.
The Dogs found themselves in a difficult position, plummeting to a 20-0 deficit after only one quarter.
In the second quarter things didn’t get any better for the visiting Bulldogs as the deficit would grow to 41 points by the end of the half. The second half would be a stale mate and the number one ranked Highland Home Squadron would walk away with 41-0 dismantling of the Bulldogs.
LaFayette will close their season out this week in their final game of the season against the Luverne Tigers. It will be Senior Night for the Bulldogs. Game time is Friday, October 27, 7 P.M. CST.
