EDWARDSBURG—The streaks continue for the Otsego girls and boys cross country teams.
The Otsego girls upped their Wolverine Conference winning streak to 84 with victories over Edwardsburg (15-50) and Three Rivers (17-46) on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The Otsego boys, meanwhile, moved their league winning streak to 73 by defeating the Eddies (18-42) and the Wildcats (18-41).
Emma Hoffman took top honors in the girls race to lead Otsego, crossing the finish line at 19:01.
Logan Brazee (second at 19:19), Megan Germain (third at 19:43), Skylar Mejeur (fifth at 20:17) and Taylor Mitchell (sixth at 20:19) were the Bulldogs’ other scoring runners.
For the Otsego boys, Caleb Wesseldyk and Kenny Sheffer went 1-2 with respective times of 16:30 and 16:32.
Aidan Goodwin was fifth at 17:02, Logan VanHouten was sixth at 17:08 and Matthew Schreiner was seventh at 17:20 to round out the scoring runners.
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Otsego took part in the Jackson Invitational. But rather than compete in the Division 2 race, the Bulldogs moved up to compete against tougher competition in Division 1.
The result was a sixth-place finish out of 32 teams for the girls and a 15th-place finish for the boys.
Scoring for the Otsego girls were Hoffman (12th at 18:33), Germain (15th at 18:44), Brazee (24th at 19:08), Rebekah Stachura (67th at 20:07) and Mejeur (77th at 20:24).
The top five Bulldogs in the boys race were Wesseldyk (48th at 16:39), Sheffer (61st at 16:46), VanHouten (63rd at 16:49), Schreiner (75th at 16:57) and Goodwin (85th at 17:02).
