ALLEGAN – Six of Allegan County’s cities will hold municipal elections November 7 to elect members of the respective city’s council or commission.
Commissioner chairman James Storey said in Holland, there are three contested
seats, including the mayor’s chair, an at large council seat, and Ward 4 that includes part of the city in Allegan County. Saugatuck, South Haven and Wayland also have contested council or mayoral seats at stake while Fennville and Douglas have the same number of candidates as seats available.
Gobles and Martin schools have ballot proposals as do Hopkins Village and Otsego Township.
“While some may view these elections as of lesser importance than state and national elections, those elected to municipal offices wield important votes on decisions such as taxes, spending and zoning matters,” Storey said.
