PAW PAW – Paw Paw seventh grader, Brynn Cummings, appeared live Tuesday night, Aug. 22, on the NBC television show, America’s Got Talent.
Cummings, a seventh grader, moved on to the semifinals (the top 55 acts of the season) after her initial appearance on the show. The top two acts with the most votes will move on to the finals.
Cummings, 12, has been enchanting audiences with her rare talent for combining magic and ventriloquism since she was eight.
In 2019, she secured first place at the 82nd annual Abbott’s Magic Get Together, a magic convention held in Colon, MI, and in 2022, claimed the top spot in the Junior Open Mic at Vent Haven, an annual ventriloquist convention.
She delivered a TED Talk, “How to Dream Like a 10-year-old,” about balancing her love of performing with the peer pressure of fitting in and has showcased her skills on the TV special, “Penn & Teller: Try this at Home Too.”
Cummings made it to the Top 5, however, she was eliminated when they announced the Top 3.
Cummings returned home last Friday afternoon to Paw Paw, where she received a surprise escort through downtown Paw Paw from members of the Michigan State Police, Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, Paw Paw Police Department and Paw Paw Fire Department.
Arriving at the Paw Paw Middle School, Cummings got to share her experiences with those who provided the escort, as well as with close friends and family members.
Ina social media post, Cummings said that she was asked by producer Susan Dynner to be in her documentary she is developing about women in magic, Cummings was interviewed by Dynner. The documentary is scheduled to be released in 2025.
