Andrew Christopher “Drew” Emerson – Age 38 of Farwell, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at his home. Drew was born to parents Gary Burton and Marilyn Elizabeth (Parker) Emerson in Lapeer, MI on August 8, 1984. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church in Howell and sang in the church choir. Growing up he was very involved in all things Boy Scouts. He played many sports including baseball and graduated from Howell High School in 2002 where he lettered in football, acapella choir and varsity men’s choir. After high school he attended the University of Northwestern Ohio, where he earned a 2-year auto mechanic’s diploma. Drew honorably served in the United States Army as an artillery mechanic with the Third Infantry Division in Ramadi, Anwar Province, Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning many medals during that period including an army commendation medal, army good conduct medal, national defense service medal, global war on terrorism service medal, Iraq campaign medal with a campaign star, army service ribbon and overseas service ribbon. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed guns and anything to do with cars, which he spent much time building from the bottom up. He loved racing and became quite involved in High Performance Racing. He even went to Daytona to do so at one point. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lora Mosley, at the Howell Opera House on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2013. Over the past several years he found he also had a passion for golf. He worked at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare and was known to many as the “Bearded guy in the kilt”.
Drew is survived by his wife, Lora Emerson, children Caleb William Emerson, Jaden Marie Emerson and Finnigan Brady Emerson, 4 stepchildren, 4 grandchildren, and his parents, Gary and Marilyn Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerry and Doris Emerson, and William and Josephine Parker.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, August 11, 2023 at Campbell Funeral Home in Farwell. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. Dr. Ray Francis will officiate. Special music will be provided by bagpiper, Mark McMillen, and military honors will be provided following the service by the Farwell American Legion post 558.
