Obituary: Dale Edward Sluiter

May 25, 1954 – July 18, 2023

Dale Edward Sluiter, age 69 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at home with his family by his side.

Dale was born May 25, 1954, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Allison and Harriet Sluiter. Dale served honorably in the United States Army from 1975 to 1996, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas.  He worked as a mortars squad leader in South Korea at the wall dividing the north and south.  Dale retired from the service after serving 20 dedicated years.

Dale loved mowing the lawn at home and for friends on his John Deere tractor.  He also loved working at Peaceful Road Farm.  His many hobbies were watching westerns, collecting anything John Deere, and spending time with his dogs.

Surviving him is his wife of 18 years, Sheryl; children, Joe (Tracy and their kids), George (Jennifer) Snyder, Sheryl (Toby) Hammond, and William Kimble; grandchildren, Elexius (Amanda) Guerin, David Gibson (Shantel), Amy May, William Kimble Jr., and Tiffany Kimble; great-grandchildren, George, David, and Isabella; brothers, Glen and Tim; sisters, Nancy (Bob) and Carol; and many special friends.  Along with his parents, Allison and Harriet, Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl; and stepmother, Cathy.

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Graveside Burial with Military Honors will be held August 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Floral View Memorial Gardens, 5371 8th Ave, Grandville, MI 49418, Pastor Ronnie Ewing officiating.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Big Rock Music Barn, 1125 122nd Avenue, Martin, MI 49070.  Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
