Beverly Jean Wood – Lifelong resident of Harrison passed away at her home at the age of 92 on Friday, July 14, 2023. Beverly was born on August 1, 1930 to parents Austin Eli and Virginia May (Hilts) Dunkle. Beverly married Charles Jr. Wood on August 12, 1949. Together they raised a family, 9 sons and a daughter. Beverly and Charles were active members of the VFW for many years. Once her children had grown and moved out of the house, she found much joy in her work, doing laundry for North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell. She also had a love for gardening and spent countless hours in the kitchen. She always had food prepared for those who came to visit.
Beverly is survived by her children; Austin (Gwen) Wood, Dennis (Nancy) Wood, Elmer (Tammy) Wood, and Carol Pearson, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a brother, Austin Eli Dunkle, and a sister Louis Ann Slay, as well as many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, sons; Dan, Bobby, John, Jerry, Billy, and an infant son, Bucky, as well as her her parents, Austin and Virginia.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Campbell Funeral Home. Beverly’s grandson, Jay Carrigan will officiate. Burial in Surrey Township Cemetery will follow, where Beverly will be laid to rest next to her husband. Visitation with the family will be held the evening before, on Wednesday, July 19 from 4 until 8 PM at Campbell Funeral Home.
