Saugatuck City will host and help sponsor traditional July 4 festivities Tuesday including a noon parade plus Coghlin Park laser lights, music and fireworks at dusk.
Local volunteer Birdie Holley will organize this year’s parade at noon from in front of Saugatuck Middle/High School (north campus under construction), 401 Elizabeth St.
She expects five to 10 volunteers to, with police and fire help, usher units north on Elizabeth, west on Francis Street down to Butler Street south through downtown, west a block on Mason Street, east a block on Griffith, then west on Hoffman three blocks to the Elizabeth start and end. Holley anticipates 250 or so attendees.
Coghlin Park fronting Kalamazoo Lake will host an 8 to 11 p.m. extravaganza featuring Street Corner Music by DJ House Shoes, laser lights and fireworks over the water.
City manager Ryan Heise expects to serve some 1,500 attendees with eight trash cans, portable toilets and three street barricades.
