Obituary: Marian Carol Herpst

July 21, 1940 – June 18, 2023

Marian Carol Herpst, “Grandma Harley” of Allegan, Michigan, formally of Lansing, Michigan, left her earthly home to be reunited with her loving husband, Ron, on Sunday, June 18, 2023.  Born July 21, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late John and Carol Joy (Beard) Maurer. 

Marian was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Her hobbies included gardening and painting. Her family meant the world to her, and she loved being a part of her granddaughter’s lives.  One would easily find her at many of their AYSO games, showing her support.  Marian’s last days were spent being loved on by her family, laughing and finishing her day with her favorite treat – butter pecan ice cream. 

Marian is survived by her sons, Jeff (Beth) Herpst and Tim (Toni) Herpst; her two granddaughters, Shelby Herpst and Emily Herpst; her siblings, Jan (Jerry) Nurenberg, Mike (Jan) Mauerer, Tina Maurer, Kady Maurer, Jim (Cindy) Maurer, Denise (David) Key, Joe (Katie) Maurer; and sister-in-law, Maggie Mieras.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Maurer and Richard Maurer.

The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with the rosary recited at 6:00 PM.  There will also be a visitation held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM, Fr. Simon Manjooran officiating.  Memorial donations may be made in Marian’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, https://www.stjude.org) or Wings of Hope Hospice (530 Linn Street, Allegan, MI 49010).  Marian will be buried next to her husband, Ron, in Hudson Corners Cemetery.
