University of Alabama Scholarship Michelle Moore presented full academic scholarship to Emrald Wilkins

LaFayette High School hosted the 2023 Senior Scholarships/Awards Day Program last week.

The Graduating Class of 2023 has a total of $3,524,108 in scholarships.

The program highlights were:

Speaker….Ms. Tytianna Smith
Tytianna Smith is a native of LaFayette – She graduated #1 in her class from LaFayette High School in 2017. Tytianna then went on to Norfolk State University where she majored in Political Science.
Smith served as the Vice President of the Norfolk State University NAACP chapter, and won the titles of Miss Robert C. Nusbaum Honors College, and Miss Delta Chapter for the Delta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc.

In 2021, Tytianna graduated from Norfolk State University #1 in her class with a 4.0 GPA.

In August of 2021, Smith began a one year intensive post-bac pre-med program at Johns Hopkins University where she graduated as the only black person in her class. She aspires to become an OBGYN. Also, her goals include conducting research that will lead to cures for women and couples who struggle with infertility.

Tytianna is currently the Biology, Environmental Science, and Physics teacher at LaFayette High School. She enjoys teaching and advocating for the students who walk the same halls she did not too long ago.
