Saugatuck continues winning ways

The winning ways continued for the Saugatuck girls soccer team.
Hosting SAC rival Lawton on Monday, May 15, the Trailblazers scored seven first-half goals en route to the 8-0 victory.
The game was stopped early due to the mercy rule.
The victory was the 14th straight for Saugatuck, which improved to 15-1.
Neave Rewa spearheaded the offensive effort in the victory, scoring twice and assisting on one goal. Iris Kuipers also had a pair of goals.
Erin Moerler finished with a goal and two assist, while Adele Nieuwsma had one goal and one assist.
Jenn Schock also scored and Eva Kierzek added an assist.
Grace Greenwood was in goal for Saugatuck and was credited with the shutout.
Greenwood also earned the shutout four days earlier when, on Thursday, May 11, the Trailblazers bested Potter’s House 4-0.
Kennedy Gustafson scored twice, with Rewa and Avery Smith going for one goal each. Nieuwsma had an assist.
Against Hackett Catholic Central on Wednesday, May 10, Saugatuck jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for the 3-2 win.
Meave Wrenn, Kuipers and Moerler each had one goal, with Rewa, Nieuwsma and Kierzek each finishing with one assist.
Gustafson was in goal for the Trailblazers.
