June Marion (Kitchell) Querback passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023. She was born on June 15, 1925 in Allegan, Michigan to the late Clayton and Esther (Porter) Kitchell. She graduated from Allegan High School in 1942 and went to County Normal for a year. From 1943 to 1944 she taught at Hudson Corners School which was a one-room schoolhouse. She attended Western State teacher’s College and on August 18, 1946, June married Glenn Querback. They had two children, Linda and Alan. Just before Alan’s birth she contracted Polio and with Glenn’s help, physical therapy, and lots of hard work learned to walk again. She was a very determined and strong woman.
June worked tinting pictures for Van Melle Studio for several years. She taught off and on and worked with Glenn in the office at Querbach Cleaners and Leather Processing. June was very talented and artistic. She enjoyed playing the organ and loved playing hymns. She enjoyed creating beautiful beaded jewelry, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and making Christmas stockings on her knitting machine. She painted beautiful pictures. With Glenn’s help she created a wonderful doll house and made all the furniture and little quilts for the beds. Through her lifetime June made beautiful afghans and quilts and gifted them to her family and friends.
June loved her church and church family and was the longest member of the Allegan United Methodist Church. She joined the church in 1937 and was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. Her faith was so important to her and her daily walk with God. She was an inspiration to others and enjoyed sharing her faith!
June loved playing bridge, and many other games. She, along with Glenn, enjoyed winters in Florida where they excelled in winning trophies at Shuffleboard tournaments! They also spent summers at Singing Sands in South Haven with many close friends. She always watched Tiger Baseball Games on television.
A favorite time of the year for June and Glenn was when they worked at the Allegan County Fair in the building that held canned goods, baked goods, and handmade items. June was dearly loved by her family, and she loved them so much and enjoyed visiting with each and every one! We will miss her very much and remember her with love!
