Mary K. Keenoy, age 91 of Clare, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at McLaren Central Michigan. Mary was born the oldest of ten children to Elton “Dan” and Maude (Tolle) Daniels on March 12, 1932 in Lansing. She was united in marriage to James Keenoy on February 14, 1953 with him predeceasing her on September 2, 2018. Mary and James had moved to Clare from Lansing 49 years ago. She had worked as an Office Assistant for Drs. Leshok, Crusoe and Quigly. She was an active member of the Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Cecilia Site where she had served as a Cantor; her children remembered her loving to sing with the voice of an angel. Mary loved to golf and had been a member of several leagues; she also enjoyed tending to her garden and flower beds. She volunteered her time at the Clare Elementary School as a mentor and in the reading program. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Cynthia (Daniel) Kowalesky of Perrinton, Dan (Rena) Keenoy of Harrison, Robert (Marie) Keenoy of Clare and Marilyn Cook of Portland, Oregon; her siblings Donna Wageman of Hurricane, West Virginia, Linda Daniels of Clare, Tom (Talane) Daniels of Clare, Ann Daniels Bowers of Millheim, Pennsylvania and Nancy Dibble of Howell; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her parents and siblings Patrick, Joe, Judy and Julie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7 P.M. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Cecilia Site with Monsignor Francis Koper officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clare Elementary School’s Reading Program or to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
