Funeral services were held March 4, at Paw Paw High School’s Performing Arts Center for Paw Paw firefighter, Lt. Ethan Quillen, who was killed last month while responding to a fire call during an ice storm. Lt. Quillen, 28, was killed when a downed power line fell on him in Almena Township during the Feb. 22 ice storm. The United States Marine had been a member of the Paw Paw Fire Department since 2019. Public visitation began at 10 a.m., where services were held at 12:30 p.m. More than 100 vehicles, including fire trucks, first responders, police, road commission and other vehicles filled the high school parking lots. Pastor Wally Coots officiated the service. Following the service, Lt. Quillen’s casket was placed atop Paw Paw Fire Truck Engine No. 1 by the Paw Paw Fire Department Honor Guard. The procession made its way from the high school, then traveled through downtown Paw Paw, making a brief stop at the fire department building. From there, the procession continued to Allegan on M-40, where private burial services for Lt. Quillen were held at Oakwood Cemetery.
