Thealana “Tean” Cora McConnell, age 93 of Rosebush, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 in Zephyrhills, Florida. Tean was born the daughter of Garnet and Ruth (Hanes) Ferguson on September 24, 1929 in Farwell. She was united in marriage to Paul McConnell on June 9, 1967 with him predeceasing her in 2001. Tean was a lifelong resident of the Central Michigan Area; she was an active member of the St. Henry’s Catholic Church and then the Our Lady of Hope Parish – St. Cecilia Site. She had worked for many years at JcPenney’s in Mt. Pleasant, retiring in the early 80’s. She had enjoyed being a seamstress; having made all of her children’s clothing. She was a proud grandmother that never missed out on any of her grandchildren’s events and activities. Tean had volunteered at the local Nursing Home; she had also been active as the secretary of her Golf League in Florida and had enjoyed bowling.
Tean is survived by her children Gene Funnell, Barb (Michael) Murphy and Paul Funnell; her 13 grandchildren, Corina (Kemp) Evans, Laura (Michael) Ramsey, Lori (Ken) Bluhm, Russell (Cory) Bright, Renee’ (Jim) Doherty, Dan (Kristi) Grigg, Jason (Candice) Murphy, Amy Murphy, Staci (Will) Bailey, Tonja (Heath) Hudkins, Casey (Stacy) Funnell, Andi (Travis Johnson) McFarland and Shannon (Jason) Henry; 50 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren; siblings Darlene Heitzmann, Mary Gott, Donald Ferguson, David Ferguson, Nola Schocknesse and Bruce (Jan) Ferguson and her sister-in-laws Marion Ferguson and Judy Ferguson. Tean was predeceased by her son Dale Funnell, her parents and her siblings Art Ferguson and Vaudrey Post.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Prayer Service. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Parish on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11 A.M. with Monsignor Francis Koper and Tean’s nephew Father John Cotter officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Our Lady of Hope Parish or to Careline Hospice.
