Allegan bowling teams split with Saugatuck

DOUGLAS—It was a battle of the top two boys bowling teams in the SAC Lakeshore when Allegan traveled to play host Saugatuck at Alley Lanes on Monday, Feb. 6.
And it was the second-place Trailblazers who prevailed, handing the league-leading Tigers the 17.5-12.5 loss.
The teams split the baker games—Saugatuck won the first 198-151 and Allegan took the second 153-148—before the Tigers won the first regular game 913-896, thereby taking a 10.5-8.5 lead. Austin Zoch had a 230 game for Allegan, followed by Logan Locatis and Aidan Letts at 201 each.
Game two, however, went to Saugatuck by a score of 9-6-872, giving the Trailblazers the win.
Andrew Snyder led Allegan (10-2-1) with a 234. Locatis added a 180 and Sam Morse had a 179.
The girls match wasn’t nearly as close, as the Tigers won 28-2 to stay unbeaten at 13-0.
Allegan won both baker games (155-122 and 121-120) and both regular games (861-600 and 823-518).
Leah Snyder posted a 450 series to lead Allegan, which also got a 382 series from Rainah Spohn.
On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Allegan girls beat second-place Coloma 26-4, while the Allegan boys won 22-8.
On the girls side, the Tigers won the baker games 150-126 and 162-124. The regular games went Allegan’s way 768-696 and 674-668.
Spohn had a personal-best 212 in the first game, while Leah Snyder had a team-best 172 in the second game.
The Allegan boys had wins of 173-155 and 162-160 in the baker games before dropping the first regular game 856-752. But Allegan regrouped to win game two 929-667 to take the match.
Locatis had a 394 series for the Tigers, while Anderson Zoch and a personal-best 259 in game two.
“Both teams today showed great resilience in never giving up and picking each other up,” Allegan coach Don Lamb said. “It was an awesome sight to watch these young athletes perform so well as a team.”
