Obituary: Jimmy L. James, 87

Jimmy passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 13th surrounded by family. He was born October 28. 1935 in the Upper Peninsula village of Nahma to Frank James and Sarah (Sturgis) James. Nahma remained, his whole life, as his favorite place to be.
While in his teens, Jimmy and his family moved to Allegan, He graduated from Allegan High School and soon went to work for Rockwell International where he remained for 30 some years. He worked there first as a machine operator and later in Quality Control. After retiring from Rockwell he became a van driver for the Sheltered Workshop and its special people.
On July 3, 1965, he married Jacque Duryea, who survives. His family includes daughters, Jill McKinley and Megan James, his brother Roy James, grandchildren, Corey (Jessica) Priebe, Cole (Ashley) Priebe and Jesse James, great-grandchldren, Caleb Priebe and Delaney Priebe along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Evelyn LaVigne, Florence Smith, and Raymond James.
Jim was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge 2315.
He was an avid golfer and bowler and was proud of his two 300 games.
He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25 at the Allegan United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30. There will be a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Allegan United Methodist Church or Wings of Hope hospice.
